The Old Apple Orchard - early April

It was gloriously sunny and warm today. The perfect day to finish a little painting I started last week but could not finish at the time because of the light changing.

Wanting to paint but not having use of the car last week, I took a stroll through the old apple orchard behind our house. I just love these gnarled old trees. They have so much character and with the numerous holes they now have, they provide wonderful nesting opportunities for an assortment of birds and mammals.

Size: 30 x 20 cm.
Oil on board.
NFS.

Thrilled to hear this painting has been selected for The Royal Society of British Artists Annual Exhibition 2017 at the Mall Galleries. Exhibition on 22 March to Saturday 1 April 2017.
