The Seven Sisters from Seaford Head

I spent yesterday with Wendy, whose husband made the winning bid as a present for her on my pledge of a plein air for beginners one-to-one oil painting day. This was at an auction of promises for St Michaels Hospice back in January. The winner could choose a location within East Sussex or West Kent and Wendy asked to paint at the stunning Seven Sisters Country Park in the summer. We had been waiting over a month for perfect weather conditions and yesterday it really was. I found it hard to believe that Wendy was new oils, had never painted a landscape or painted on location before! Her observation and colour mixing skills were just brilliant (please see my Facebook page to view my photos/her painting recording this superb day).

During the course of the day we attracted quite an audience with many people watching and stopping to chat to us – at one point I turned around to see what the noise was and saw over 40 people stood behind us taking photos of us painting the stunning view beyond! That was a new experience for me but we both found it amusing and we had an absolutely wonderful day.
Size: 30 x 40 cms.
Oil on board.
